Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shakar, one of the American and British sitarist. She is the youngest female and also the first woman to receive the British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Shankar is a rising young star of the Indian sitar. She is both the daughter and pupil of Ravi Shankar. Her childhood was spent bouncing around from London to New Delhi. Her debut concert was at New Delhi at the tender 13 years old. She graduated in 1999 from her high school education in Encinitas CA. Anouskha is still pursuing a successful career in recording and performing even though she's young. She is often seen performing alongside her father and has done so for many years. In 1998, she released Anourag as her first single album. Her Grammy-nominated Live At Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. She has performed at most famous venues throughout the world. Anoushka Shakar's career isn't just limited to music. Bapi The of My Life of My Live is her 2002 memoir, that is a tribute to Ravi Shankar. She also acted on the film "Dance Like a Man" in 2003. The role she played was that of as a Bharat Nayam dancer on Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging superstar and her fame is expected to continue growing. Anoushka was raised in England and spent a lot of her childhood split between London in the UK and Delhi. Then she moved to California and enrolled in the high school there. at the age of nine She began studying music with her father. Her first performance with the Sitar took place in her 75th birthday celebration in Delhi, four years after. Anoushka was able to gain a great deal of experience by touring the world together with the father. She played in Carnegie Hall in her teenage period, as well as recorded for George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. She was the youngest and only female recipient of the House of Commons Shield awarded by the British Parliament to recognize her talent and musical ability as a leading musician of in the Asian Arts.
